Makeup tutorials on Youtube have made me a makeup hoarder
So I am not a girly girl by any means. I have only just recently even cared about makeup because my head has been shoved into textbooks for the last 6 years. Now that I am going to graduate from college and be going to job interviews and work, I am starting to care more about it so I can be professional. So, I started watching Youtube videos to learn about the basics of make up. I watch at least one everyday (I don't have time for a whole TV show so i just watch a 5-10 min youtube video) for a little bit of a break from studying. So I started wanting the products they used in their tutorials. I started out with three bottles of foundations that were not the right color and were 4 years old, now I have 6 or 7 that pretty much fit me. I started out with a brush set my mom got me for x-mas 4 years ago now I have 10+ brushes I got from all over the internet and more on their way. I started out with lip smackers lip balms now I have upwards of 15 different lipsticks, lip glosses, and lip balms. Now I am NOT saying this all is a bad thing. I had to test out quite a few products before I found some that worked for me. I didn't learn about the beauty guarantee (at Walgreens, rite aid etc. you can return items if they don't fit your skin tone or you don't like them) at drugstores until after I got most of this stuff. But I find myself wanting to buy more, but I rarely wear makeup. I will say this, figuring out what works best for you its the most difficult part. What shade skin do you have what undertones, do you have dry skin? oily skin? do you have sensitive skin? does that fragrance give you a headache? does that eye shadow make you look like mimi from the drew carry show? I say start small. and build as you go. I think every mom should make a make up starter kit for her teenage daughter even if she is a tom boy and teach her how to put it on even if she isn't interested in it. I think the key here is to keep my collection down to the things I absolutely love. the problem is I spent so much money on them that I have a hard time getting rid of them, or what if i actually might get a tan one year and I need a darker shade? I also have been having a hard time with the smells that my foundations have been giving off, my revlon colorstay has gave me a headache and now my covergirl 3 in 1 has given me one too. I shall update when the great makeup perge of 2013 is done.

Wedding Binder Tabs
Eye Shadow Organization
I recently went on a mini-vacation and we were going to go out to dinner with my soon to be parent's in law. So when I was packing, I was trying to figure our what eye shadow sets to take with me. I wished I could take them all so I could make a cool look depending on my mood but sadly I couldn't So I started researching cheap ways to organize you eye shadows. Granted I am a poor college student so I have mostly drugstore eye shadows that come in those bulky plastic cases. So I searched for ways and I didn't think id be able to make anything professional looking enough. So that's when I went onto amazon and found the Z-pallets. Now for those of you who don't know what these nifty little inventions are, they are magnetic cases with a clear plastic cover and the metal pans your eye shadows come in magnetize right in there. I didn't find any in a price range that I actually was willing to pay until i came across the Makeup Geek amazon page. Only 20 dollars! Plus I love Marlena, I have been watching her Youtube video's for years. So I ordered that and started the process of de-potting all my eye shadows. The Rimmel London ones I had to use a lighter underneath them to get them out but the rest I just used a needle and pried the metal pan out. Now there's gonna be sticky glue underneath the pans so just use a little piece of paper to cover it up or melt it off. The pallet came with round magnets but I had some oddly shaped pans so I went to Jo Ann fabrics and got little round adhesive magnets for like $1.39 for a 12 pack.
So now instead of picking and choosing what plastic case with three colors I want to take with me, I have all my colors in one area. Also, I tend to hoard makeup so now I can see what colors I have and what ones I still need.
Also, One thing I really like about Makeup Geek as a company, they almost always send me a little pan of one of there eye shadow's and a sweet hand written note in my box. She is such a wonderful person and her eye shadows and brushes are to die for.
